About the Winery
Onderkloof’s maiden vintage in 1999 marked the beginning of this farm’s boutique wine journey. The Swiss owner’s son, Yves Musfeld, took over the winemaking duties in 2012 and with winemaking experience gained in Switzerland, Spain, USA, South Africa and Germany, the farm was surely in good hands.
Onderkloof, which means “below the valley”, is situated in the historical Stellenbosch wine region in the Western Cape. Both the ocean and the nearest town are only six kilometers from the farm. More specifically, the farm’s name has its origin from Sir Lowrys Pass which in the past, and still today, allowed goods to be transported to and from Cape Town and the countryside. With mountains as a backdrop and the ocean practically on its porch, Onderkloof is surrounded with natural beauty – something we also like to reflect in our wines.
Onderkloof Bottleneck Rosé
About the wine
The Bottleneck Rosé pleasant aromas of cherry, strawberry and subtle hints of raspberry on the nose, followed by a light to medium bodied palate. This is supported by intense fruit aromas with a long finish.
