About the Winery

Diemersfontein has belonged to the Sonnenberg family for 3 generations, dating back to the early 1940s. David’s grandfather, Max, bought the 183-hectare farm, which lies in the shadow of the majestic Hawekwa Mountains and boasts a panoramic view of both Du Toit’s Kloof and Bains’ Kloof mountain ranges.

Diemersfontein The Prodigy Pinotage emanate rich flavours of dark red fruit like mulberry and blackberry on the nose followed by strawberry, cherry and plum on the palate all wrapped in a subtle hint of a well-balanced oak component.

Winemaking process

Pinotage grapes were harvested from various sites in Wellington at optimum ripeness, destalked, slightly crushed and vinified in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation happened over 7 days then pressed and after 30 days completed MLF in the tank . The wine was racked and aged or 10 months on French oak staves.
