About the Winery

Diemersfontein has belonged to the Sonnenberg family for 3 generations, dating back to the early 1940s. David’s grandfather, Max, bought the 183-hectare farm, which lies in the shadow of the majestic Hawekwa Mountains and boasts a panoramic view of both Du Toit’s Kloof and Bains’ Kloof mountain ranges.

About the wine

A fusion of sour cherries, vanilla, spice and violets entice the senses. These intense flavours follow through to the palate, resulting in a full-bodied and lingering finish.

Winemaking process

Grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness and vinified separately. Fermentation happened in tanks over 4-6 days, pressed put back into the tank to finish malolactic fermentation. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was racked into 2nd and 3rd fill barrels for 12 months until they were blended, stabilized and bottled.
